Well Dressed: Autumn Cashmere + Anthropologie Maxi Skirt

Anthropologie is one of my favorite stores. I love how almost every piece in their store has something unique about it. I have to be careful when shopping there though, and my boyfriend will usually be my barometer, because some pieces can look a bit (in my opinion) “grandma-ish”. Truth be told, he hates that store but I can usually find some great off-duty, casual pieces that (when styled well) are super cute. The weather in Michigan has been perfect this week and the short amount of days we have like this call for an outfit that’s half summer and half fall, hence the sandals that it’s still warm enough to wear and the sweater for when the air feels crisp in the shade.

Btw, some of you have asked so I wanted to clarify – I do not get paid to promote the clothes and brands on my blog. My blog is a personal style blog and all the outfits are ones that I actually own and chose to shoot photographs of and share with you. Some of the bloggers that do what I do are “big time” and definitely get paid to wear and promote certain brands. I don’t make any money from what I do. I simply do it because I love it! So rest assured when I say I love something it’s because I truly do and not because I’m being paid to say it. ūüôā

Well Dressed: Delano Vegas Opening Night

Hope you all had a great weekend! We just returned home from New York City and Vegas and had a great time. We attended the Stand Out in Style party for the grand opening¬†of the Delano hotel in Las Vegas and I wanted to do a quick post sharing my look for the night. The dress code was “urban chic” so my friends at The Webster Miami helped me put this outfit together. It was super refreshing to mix it up with a top and skirt because I usually (I think like most women)¬†gravitate to a dress and heels when going out. Putting this outfit together reminded me that it’s important to try things on even if we think we don’t like them on the hanger. I overlooked this top on the rack, reluctantly tried it on and¬†ended up loving it. Being a creature of habit I usually grab the same types of looks over and over, so having a shopping companion¬†or sales person¬†help you can get you out of that comfort zone!

Tomorrow is my birthday, and it’s always a good occasion to be grateful for the many joys that comprise my existence. Thank you for following my blog – your support allows me to do what I love!

Well Dressed: Borrowed from the Boys

It seems like some iteration of menswear is on the list of trends every fall and I’m always a fan! You can incorporate something borrowed from the boys in any number of ways whether it’s one piece or a more full-on look. Here’ I’ve incorporated quite a few menswear pieces — the oversize blazer (pinstripe to boot), button-up shirt, fedora, loafers and my “boy” bag. The subtle feminine touches keep it balanced — a pointy toe and statement necklace.

This week I am heading to New York City and then to Las Vegas. I am honored to have been invited to attend the grand opening of the Delano Hotel Las Vegas, plus a little pre-birthday celebration for me while there. Stay tuned for updates and fun photos!

Well Dressed: Casual Sunday

Who’s sick of skinny jeans? Me! Although I won’t be abandoning them entirely, I’m ready to embrace wider-leg denim (fall’s bohemian 60s/70s mood is perfectly timed). As you probably know, I’m also a fan of distressed denim so these jeans were a must-have when I spotted them last week. When uncuffed, they are the perfect length to wear with heels. For a casual day I love this whole look. Bright pink and navy are one of my favorite color combos. I’d be remiss not to mention this fantastic tote I personalized from Madewell. The leather is even more beautiful in person! The blue stripe pairs great with denim and the size is perfect for a day of shopping or travel.

One last note – one thing I think about when transitioning to fall is mixing summer and fall elements within one piece to create a seamless transition — these shoes being a great example. Suede is a more fall fabric while the color is a little more summery (although C√©line’s fall bags were mainly hot pink so maybe there are no color rules any more!). I do wear these in the spring and summer too – regardless of the fabric – so they’re a great 3-season shoe.

I have a lot of travel coming up so stay tuned for some fun posts! Make sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebook for more photos that don’t appear in my blog posts.

Well Dressed: Intermix Event Recap Plus Four Fall Looks!

Last Wednesday,¬†I hosted a fall styling and shopping event at my favorite local store Intermix. I’ve always preferred a more boutique type shopping experience as opposed to big department stores, and coupled with Intermix’s wide array of designers, on-trend pieces and awesome staff,¬†it’s my go-to store for everything from casual to dressy. With fall upon us (wah!), the event was timed perfectly to shop their new-season looks. Aside from helping visitors choose fall pieces, they asked me to put together fall looks for each of their trend categories — Modern Menswear, Sleek Minimalist and Flashback Fashion. Below are some photos from the event as well as four fall on-trend looks.

Thank you Intermix for this awesome opportunity!

What I’m wearing at the event: Rails plaid shirt; Elizabeth & James skirt, Jean-Michel Cazabat heels; Nocturne necklace (old); Rag & Bone hat (similar)

Obsessed with this Yves Salomon coat. Amazing color with denim, leather pants or trousers, and the fit is ultra-feminine.

Fall Trends

As with any trend, you can go small or big. Maybe incorporate one element into your outfit or take on the full trend head to toe.

Modern Menswear: Think tailored, borrowed from the boys and funky.

L’agence vest; ALC Snapped Track Pants; Barbara Bui buttonup; Valentino bag; Jean Michel-Cazabat bootie pumps; Janessa Leone hat

Sleek Minimalist: Think elegant, streamlined and monochrome.

Helmut Lang sweater; Exclusive for Intermix trousers; Joie sneakers; Hat Attack hat; Lana Jewelry earrings; ALC bag

Flashback Fashion: Think 90s, modern and edgy.

Iro jeans; Neil Barrett Sweatshirt; Rag & Bone boots; Eugenia Kim hat; Collection Privee backpack; Kelly Wearstler ring

My Go-To Fall Casual Look: What I’ll be wearing all fall and winter!¬†These jeans are an amazing fit, I love a plaid shirt and this coat is so versatile – the bottom zips off and it becomes a short coat.

J Brand Coat; Rails Plaid Shirt; Frame Jeans; Rag & Bone boots; Ray Ban sunnies; Valentino tote; Vita Fede ring
